The Response of Skeletal Muscle-Expressed Neurotrophins to Acute Resistance Exercise in Male Wistar Rats
Authors
Abstract:
Background. BDNF and NT-4/5 have been proposed to be involved in the coordinated adaptations of the neuromuscular system to the elevated level of activity, but an activity-dependent expression of neurotrophins in skeletal muscle is not well established. Objectives. We, therefore, investigated the effect of one session of resistance exercise on mRNA expression of some neurotrophins in Slow and fast muscles of Wistar rats. Methods. The resistance training protocol consisted of climbing a 1-meter–long ladder, with a weight attached to a tail sleeve. Twenty-four hours following the main training session, Soleus and Flexor Hallucis Longus (FHL) muscles were removed. mRNA expression of BDNF, NT4/5, TrkB and p75 proteins was assessed by Quantitative RT-PCR. Results. The data analysis showed that one session of resistance exercise significantly (p<0.05) decreased mRNA expression of NT4/5 in soleus muscle, but not in FHL muscle. No significant effects of one resistance exercise bout were detected for BDNF and trkB. Our results also show that p75 mRNA levels in the soleus muscle were significantly elevated (7folds) after one resistance training bout (p<0.05). Conclusion. The results indicate differential control of BDNF and NT-4/5 expression following resistance exercise in skeletal muscle. Also, we have provided evidence supporting the role of the p75 receptor in neurotrophins response to resistance exercise as a mechanical stimulus.

the expression of mstn and myod in response to resistance exercise in fast and slow twitch skeletal muscles of trained and untrained male wistar rats
the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an acute bout of exhaustive resistance exercise on the expression of myogenesis modulators (myostatin (mstn) and myod) in male trained and untrained wistar rats’ fast and slow muscles. thirty rats were assigned to three groups: control (n=6), untrained (n=12) and trained (n=12). resistance exercise (weight lifting up a vertical ladder) was...

15 صفحه اولThe effect of resistance exercise on oxidative stress in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
Abstract Background and Objective: It has been shown that oxidative stress increases in diabetes and it has an important role in its development and subsequent complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acute resistance exercise on oxidative stress in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty male ...
full textHypertrophy of skeletal muscle in diabetic rats in response to chronic resistance exercise.
This study had the following objectives: 1) to determine whether diabetic rats could increase muscle mass due to a physiological manipulation (chronic resistance exercise), 2) to determine whether exercise training status modifies the effect of the last bout of exercise on elevations in rates of protein synthesis, and 3) to determine whether chronic resistance exercise alters basal glycemia. Gr...
full textEffects of Eight Weeks of Resistance Exercises on Neurotrophins and Trk Receptors in Alzheimer Model Male Wistar Rats
Objectives: This study evaluates the effects of 8 weeks of resistance exercises on the expression of neurotrophins and Trk receptors in Alzheimer model male Wistar rats. Methods: For this purpose, 32 mature male Wistar rats with a mean weight of 230-280 g were chosen and divided into Alzheimer and Sham groups. The rats in the sham group received normal saline, while the ones in the Alzheimer g...
